For its furniture, Fermob has chosen to use metal, the "ideas material", as Gustave Eiffel called it, won over by the many ways of using it. The metals used are top-grade steel or aluminium. Innovations developed by the car industry mean that today they can be used in all weathers. Fermob furniture is either exclusively made of metal or used in combination with tear-proof Outdoor Technical Fabric, PVC-coated polyester or rot-proof wood.
Fermob furniture undergoes several stages of rust-proofing followed by two paint stages: a Fermob-exclusive process in one of the most efficient plants in Europe. Two treatments are proposed: a High Protection Index 13 treatment in 13 stages and a Very High Protection Index 22, or cataphoresis for use in very humid or saline climates.
The paint is a DuPont® powder, 100% polyester, anti-UV, deposited electrostatically on the furniture for optimal coverage, then baked at 193°, just like in the car industry.
Tests and Standards
Fermob furniture meets with your professional requirements. Each seat is tested in accordance with the European standards for "outdoor furniture, seats and tables for collective use" in force: European standard NF EN 581-1, corresponding to safety, and standard NF EN 581-2 being more to do with mechanical resistance and solidity.
Our furniture is subjected to resistance tests, such as the 100000 blow hundred kilo test on chair seats, corresponding to 47 years of intensive use! The Outdoor Technical Fabric meets with the ISO 9002 quality assurance system. It can be given fire-proof treatment on request.
Our paints are subject to AFNOR standardized tests for baking, hardness, resistance to scratching and to rust. Our paints are guaranteed free from TGIC and contain no heavy metals.
Protecting our Planet
Furniture in perfect harmony with nature
A green choice of materials :
Iron: a material recycled to over 95% the world over, thanks to an organised and well-managed recycling process.
The sorting and recycling of metal in refuse centres was the first recycling circuit to function effectively throughout the world. Consequently, Fermob can guarantee that its furniture is not only recyclable, but – more importantly – actually recycled.
Outdoor Technical Fabrics (OTFs) : Fermob’s suppliers are among the most demanding in
terms of sustainable development. For example, Fermob’s leading OTF supplier is committed to a unique patented recycling process, Texyloop®, which can recycle 100% of components. All scraps and offcuts of OTF resulting from the manufacture of Fermob chairs are therefore recycled.
Ecological paint protects both the environment and your health : the powder paints used by Fermob (DuPont®, 100% polyester powder) contain no solvents.
They are 100% recyclable and are recycled in our
zero-waste installation All other waste is sorted and recycled.
Wood : used only for our “Bistro Naturel” seats, comes exclusively from sustainably managed, PEFC-certified european forests.
All other waste is sorted and recycled. Indeed, Fermob was one of the first furniture companies to sign the SERPOL convention on the collection and disposal of special waste.
